I can't help but wonder if he takes these photographs just for the pure joy of it or if he's trying to make some grander statement. Perhaps about how these people could have been anyone or maybe that fame and celebrity isn't so much about the actual person as it is about the image? These are CRAZY! I love the Dali one, and the Charlie Chaplin great dictator thing with all of the animals. These are just such a strange take on such well known images that make them amazing. They're also really personal considering the photographer chose to include themselves in their work. -Elliot
Wow! I can't wait to see how you did this, and what photographs you chose to recreate. It's surprising how well his face fits all the original personas. I agree with Sofia about how it's interesting that the image itself seems to create more of an impact rather than the person in the frame.

These photographs are awesome. They all involve so much time and effort to plan and stage. The photographer really went all out when it came to replicating these photographs which makes them so successful. It will be really interesting to see what you do with this.

I second that Dylan, it will exciting to see Ran as famous people. Also the whimsicality of these photos is a cool contrast with the serious process by which the photos were produced.
This is so great on so many levels. I like how he seems to be making a point that photographs are just copies of people and takes it to a new level by making himself a copy of other people and then taking a photograph. I can't wait to see what you did with this and who you dressed up as.

Wow I am feeling wonder, amazement, and slight confusion after viewing these photos, which if I am interpreting the artist's style correctly, is exactly what they wanted. I believe that they are taking common images we associate important figures with and reinventing them/making them more animated. I think its brilliant and I am excited to see how your photos will turn out.
These are incredible, but I also find it slightly troubling that this is the method the artist uses for self-portraiture. It raises questions about how we se ourselves in relation to "famous" people.
